Inspired by Eric Carle’s timeless classic The Very Hungry Caterpillar, our young learners embarked on a meaningful journey of discovery.
The story came to life as children explored patterns in Math, practiced yoga through a Caterpillar Story in PE, and played with letter sounds and words during Language lessons. This delightful tale became a gateway to hands-on exploration, creativity, and joyful learning across various subjects.

Within our unit, “The Book Adventure,” the five essential elements of the PYP beautifully came together.

  • Through knowledge, children discovered how books share stories and ideas from around the world.

  • Through concepts such as form and change, they learned how stories are structured and how ideas evolve.

  • Through skills like communication, thinking, and self-management, they naturally expressed and deepened their understanding.
    Their
curiosity and appreciation shone brightly with every page they turned.

The joy reached its peak when parents joined the classroom to read stories aloud. Children’s faces lit up with excitement as their parents became storytellers, bringing books to life in magical ways. The classroom was filled with laughter, curiosity, and wonder. Other children eagerly asked, “When will my mom and dad come to school?” — showing how storytelling truly connects hearts, families, and learning.

Our young learners’ enthusiasm continued through the Book Drop Box action. Children from Tunas Unggul Early Years joyfully shared their favorite storybooks—or even new ones—with friends at another school. Through this simple yet meaningful act, they learned that books are not only for reading but also for sharing knowledge, imagination, and kindness. It was a beautiful reminder that stories have the power to connect and inspire everyone.

As our journey from pages to play comes to an end, we are reminded that knowledge is a light guiding both the mind and the heart. Through stories, children learn to see the beauty of Allah’s creation, to think deeply, and to communicate with kindness.
May every book they read nurture gratitude, curiosity, and a lifelong love for learning—because seeking knowledge is, indeed, an act of worship.
