At the grand Islamic gathering “Istiqomah in Worship”, held as part of the Connect with Tunas Unggul event on November 15, Ustadz Abu Haidar As-Sundawy reminded the audience that istiqomah means standing firmly upon faith and consistently remaining on the path of goodness. The Prophet’s words—“I believe in Allah, then remain steadfast”—affirm that steadfastness is not a momentary attitude but a lifelong journey cultivated through knowledge, righteous deeds, and sincere intentions.

Ustadz Abu Haidar explained that istiqomah involves holding firmly to the Qur’an and Sunnah, following the example of the Prophet and his companions, and making goodness a daily habit. Allah promises ease of sustenance, solutions to difficulties, and tranquility in life’s most critical moments for those who remain steadfast. Such individuals will even be greeted by angels with the comforting message: “Do not fear and do not grieve.”

He also emphasized the importance of realizing that every action is observed by Allah—an “ultimate CCTV” that guards us from negligence. Conversely, worldly ease granted to someone who is distant from obedience may be a form of istidraj, a warning to return and self-reflect. Maintaining istiqomah, he noted, requires strengthening one’s faith, increasing righteous deeds, purifying intentions, reflecting on the Qur’an, and surrounding oneself with a righteous environment.

This message resonates deeply during National Teachers’ Month. Teachers are living examples of istiqomah—showing patience, perseverance, and unwavering commitment in educating the next generation. Student success does not happen overnight; it is built through consistent, meaningful steps taken daily by dedicated educators who carry out their duties with sincerity.

Beyond the lecture, the Connect with Tunas Unggul event was also enlivened by free health check-ups, a bazaar, and enrollment information booths, offering parents an opportunity to get to know the school more closely. The blend of spiritual, educational, and social activities reflects the school’s commitment to engaging the community with meaningful and beneficial programs.

May this message of istiqomah inspire us all to continue walking the path of goodness, especially in educating with sincerity and devotion.
