Every child has a unique way of learning, and their development is often marked by various dynamics in the classroom: some struggle to focus, resist instructions, or become easily frustrated when facing changes. According to the Early Years LSDC team, these behaviors are not signs of inability but rather part of the developmental adaptation process.

To understand this, educators use the concept of the Pyramid of Learning, developed by Kathleen H. Taylor and Maryann Trott. This framework shows that academic readiness is built upon fundamental foundations:
Sensory & motor skills: balance, body awareness, and sensitivity to touch, textures, sounds, or certain tastes.
Self-regulation & emotions: learning to manage emotions, take turns, respond to transitions, calm oneself, and adapt to social settings.
Adaptive & social functions: working collaboratively, following group instructions, and completing simple structured tasks.
Academic & intellectual functions: reading, writing, critical thinking, and problem-solving.
Through this understanding, teachers and parents are encouraged to strengthen children’s foundations: calming their bodies, supporting their emotions, and appreciating every small progress. When the foundation is strong, academic abilities will naturally flourish.
To develop students spiritually, emotionally, and intellectually which then enables them to adapt and contribute in a global world.
