CREATION: Where Every Child is an Artist

A vibrant atmosphere of color and expression filled the Bandung Creative Hub as the Early Years students of Tunas Unggul School showcased their talents and creativity in the PYP Action event themed “Creation.”

Carrying the transdisciplinary theme How We Express Ourselves, the children were free to choose how they wished to express themselves—through singing, dancing, or presenting visual art exhibitions. Each painting, handmade musical instrument, and collage became a window into their inner world: honest, bold, and full of imagination.

One of the most memorable moments was the collaborative activity between children and parents on stage, creating a piece of art together. Beyond celebrating artistic expression, this activity also strengthened the bond between home and school.

The event embodied the spirit of student agency in the IB PYP—giving children the space to make choices, take action based on their learning, and express their understanding in meaningful ways. It was a beautiful reminder that every child is an artist, and through art, they tell the world who they are
