Every October, the spirit of Language Month reminds us of the historic Youth Pledge, when the Indonesian language was declared the language of unity. Today, Language Month serves as a reflective moment to nurture a literacy culture in schools. Literacy is no longer limited to the ability to read and write—it is the ability to understand, connect, and express ideas meaningfully. Amid the flood of digital information, literacy stands as both a bridge and a safeguard, helping students think critically and empathize with the world around them.
Schools play a vital role in bringing this literacy spirit to life. Through activities such as the Reading Challenge, storytelling by parents, inter-grade library visits, and other engaging programs, students not only interact with texts but also learn to interpret life through language. Teachers act as guides who spark curiosity, while collaboration with parents and the community helps literacy grow into a shared culture.
Language Month is not merely a celebration of language, but a celebration of meaning—of how words shape thought and how thought inspires change. When schools place literacy at the heart of learning, they do more than create skilled readers and writers; they nurture a generation that speaks with conscience, thinks with reason, and acts with values.

To develop students spiritually, emotionally, and intellectually which then enables them to adapt and contribute in a global world.
