October is celebrated as Indonesia’s Language Month. Historically, the choice of this month is closely linked to the Youth Pledge, one of whose declarations states, “We, the sons and daughters of Indonesia, uphold the language of unity, the Indonesian language.” Through this historical event, the name “Indonesian language” was used for the very first time and continues to be used to this day.
As a form of celebration of the birth of our national language, SMP Tunas Unggul annually organizes various fun activities related to language and literature. This year, SMP Tunas Unggul once again held the Language Month celebration with the theme “Words Speak, Feelings Create.” During the event, several students showcased their talents through stand-up comedy, storytelling, and poetry readings. There were also musical poetry performances by teachers, a readathon, band performances, a quiz competition, a fashion show, and a sharing session with parents.
Language Month is an important moment for all Indonesian citizens, including the students of SMP Tunas Unggul. Beyond commemorating history, it also aims to inspire enthusiasm in using the Indonesian language amid the growing influence of foreign languages.

To develop students spiritually, emotionally, and intellectually which then enables them to adapt and contribute in a global world.
